CVPL has calculated financial loss in hundreds of cases. Our opinion reports are clear, concise and based on a complete and balanced consideration of relevant factors. Our reports are prepared in accordance with the professional standards of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators. The CICBV is widely recognized as the pre-eminent governing body in Canada for professionals providing opinion reports for matters of financial loss and business valuation.
CVPL has worked with virtually all of the large law firms in Canada and as well as with many regional and local firms. The professionals at CVPL have provided opinions in a wide variety of matters, from small business or personal losses of one hundred thousand dollars to complicated matters involving very substantial losses incurred by multi-national conglomerates.

Due Diligence
CVPL reports are authoritative because we spend the time necessary to understand the business and the industry in which it operates. Our reputation is built on a culture of professionalism and attention to detail. Our due diligence procedures comply with the professional standards governing scope of work issued by the Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators.
Unlike most firms offering damages assessments, we have “real world” experience advising business operators through the business consulting services we offer in VeraCap. This real world experience often provides benchmarks that we use in our analyses and to assess the reasonableness our conclusions.
Process
For each assignment, the terms and conditions of our mandate are set out in our engagement letter. Our fieldwork typically begins with a review of documents produced to date in the litigation (as outlined in the Affidavit of Documents). We may then request additional information.
At the conclusion of our fieldwork we issue a draft report for review by the Clients. The review process is fundamental to the analysis. At the end of this process we then issue a final report.
Fees
We base our fees on time expended at standard hourly rates. We often provide fee estimates at various points during the assignment.
